Most couples who get married or decide to live together generally plan to have children. Several years ago, having big families was common and people thought of this as an advantage .That was mainly because children began working at an early age to help provide for the family. But with the changing times and with the cost of living getting higher every single year, having a big family is no longer considered a practical option .In fact, more and more couples choose to have only one child and some do not have any desire to become parents at all.

Indeed, the trend of having fewer children started a few decades ago. According to the Australian Institute of Family Studies, by 1986, women aged 40 to 44 years, were considerably more likely to have given birth to two children than three children (36% vs. 27%) or four or more children (19%).However, taken together, women were still more likely to have had three or more children than to have had two children (46% vs. 36%).

Two decades ago, women were more likely to have had two children than three or more children — a trend that was most marked in the most recent period (38% vs. 25% in 1996; 38% vs. 22% in 2006). Nowadays, most families in Australia have

two children. But the number of women who had given birth to a single child increased progressively from only 8% in 1981 to 13% in 2006, and it should be even bigger nowadays.

The U.S. Census Bureau states that there are approximately 14 million only children in America today. This comprises 20% of the children's population compared to only 10% around fifty years ago.

If a couple get married, they will probably decide to have(children). People once thought of a big family as a(n)(advantage), because children could help to(support)the family when they began to work. With time passing by, due to (higher cost of living), having a big family isn't a good(choice)anymore. More couple prefer to have one(child), and some even want a(n)(DINK)family. 边学边练 根据短文内容以及图标描述生育孩子的趋势变化。 1.This graph shows there has been a decrease in the number of couples (who have three or more children)(生三个或更多孩子).

Caring for the elderly is not an easy task, and there are no hard and fast rules on how it should be done. Here are some tips you can apply to make life easier and happier for both you and the person in your care.

Para 1 (Establish a routine) Organize the performance of daily activities in a routine manner, so that they are performed in the same way and at the same time every day.his routine will establish a sense of structure and increase feelings of control and safety. However, this routine can be broken with unplanned events occasionally, as elderly people

may find the routine structure too boring and restrictive .

Para 2 (Get to know them) It is important that you get to know the elderly in your care, their daily habits, likes and dislikes, etc. The better you know the person, the higher the quality of care you can provide.

Para 3(Treat them with respect) If elderly people do not have your respect, they will feel like they are being pushed around or asked to do things that they don't want to. This can lead to a bad relationship. By treating elderly persons in your care with respect, you can develop a strong bond with them. Besides, you can talk to them like adults, show your love and respect, which will not only make them feel good, but may also gain you their respect in return.

Para 4 (Mental stimulation) It is better to try to keep them occupied with challenging games, like crosswords or chess, which will keep their minds sharp.

They like to discuss world events and their life histories with you. This will give the elderly people a feeling of self-worth and make them feel needed.

Para 5 (Social interaction) Organize and encourage social interaction. Remaining connected to other people and the world is important for the elderly. It keeps the elderly feeling more engaged . It will be a tough challenge for China to deal with, due to the increasing rates of urbanization and a decreasing birth rate. The Chinese people will be facing a big challenge if we do not have enough money when we get older.

根据提示,写短文:Advantages and Disadvantages of Formal Education。你可以在论坛中开启新话题,提交所写的内容。 1. The advantages of formal education; 2. The disadvantages of formal education; 3. Your opinion. Advantages and Disadvantages of Formal Education

This is one of the key advantages of education. Even if we consider economic benefit of education but its most important contribution that it helps in changing minds of people. Education makes people understand other cultures, religions, places and culture. It helps gain understanding of what the world is all about. This

very important if we see from perspective of developing nations which are plagued by old notions. In countries such as India girl and boy child are differentiated. Even worse women are considered cause of girl child while science tells that it is the other way round. Similar old style dogmas exists everywhere in the world and the only way to eradicate them is proper education.

Some forms of education blindly impose ideas upon young minds instead of teaching them to think for themselves. The whole purpose of an education is to allow the learner to apply themselves to think bigger and better. However a faulty education system can do more harm than good in this respect. It can be argued that those without a formal education are more ready and equipped to handle a dog eat dog world. They may have gathered their knowledge from experience for which there is no substitute. Hence, unless the mode of education is wholesome and nurtures all aspects of an individual’s personality, it may not be as advantageous as expected.

After exploring both aspects of the argument, it is safe to say that the advantages and disadvantages of education point toward one direction. Though it has its drawbacks, if implemented correctly, an education system is very helpful in improving the quality of human life. It helps in transmitting knowledge, skills, customs and values, all of which are essential in the development of an individual. Thus, this discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of education have led us to the conclusion that the importance of education far outweighs its negatives.
