In the history of our modern literature, Ba Jin is one of the giants of literature, warm, progressive and having the unique style of art. In 1928, Ba Jin who is living in Paris completed his first novel, The Doom. Since then, he began to write a series of novels and short stories that have a great influence on the modern literature. The Home is the first book of the \"torrents\" trilogy，which is written by Ba Jin in 1930s.From it being released in1931 to today, with its characteristic of feudalism and the glory of the artistic charisma, it has attracted the readers, and taken an important position in the modern Chinese literature.

The Home creates many typical images with the adept means of artistic expression. Each image is written to be filled-with-attitude and vivid. There are more than seventy people in the fiction. There are arbitrary and high aging old man Gao, dissolute cruel hypocrite Feng Leshan, Ke Ding who is corruption and degeneration, the staunch girl Ming Feng who dares to protest against the feudal autocracy by death, docile Mei Feng, good eldest grandson daughter-in-law Rui Yu and so on. Three brothers, Jue Xing, Jue Ming and Jue Hui, represent three different kinds of characters, though they are all born in a large family mansion, which has four generations and is in the dark. In a word, different characters make them lead different life paths.

Jue Xing is one of the most successful people created in the fiction. He is in the position of the eldest grandson of the eldest rank, so everything he adopted the \"non-resistance\" in order to protest the peace of the large family. He and his cousin, Mei Feng, have a good romance, but they are unable to decide the marriage by themselves in this feudal family. His father arranges the marriage for him and he does not resist. The only thing he does is to quietly accept the all his father arranged for him. Although his heart is very painful, he doesn’t dare to say \"no\" and marries Rui Yu. After his grandfather died, Mistress Chen regarding the \"mass annihilation\" as an excuse does not allow Rui Yu to take the child into birth at home and calls Jue Xing to take her to the city outside. This thing is like a bolt from the blue on the perception to Jue Xing, but he still achieves it. And as a result, the feudal superstition swallowed her life. And before this, his cousin Mei because of him died unhappily. However for all this tragedy, he revolts incapable and he is willing to continue to lead “old-style” life painfully.

Despite so many \"dark clouds”, it can not block the brilliant of \"The Sun\".

In brief, this work, The Home, from the ideological content, angrily complains of the destruction of people's youth, the feudal ethical code of life and the feudal autocratic system; puts endless sympathy on the people who are the victims after struggling and suffering hardships under feudal ethics and rites' heavy pressure; has strong praise of the people who struggle for freedom.

The society is always in progress. It will not stop because of any unprogressive fetters, and it will not be able to stop. Nothing can stop the tide of the times. Through The Home, I can understand the various unsatisfied old social system and indelible tragic history in detail. Seeing the experiences and fates of different characters in the novel, I can not help being both happy and sad. I am deeply aware that the transition of the happy life today needs long years. So I would like to pay tribute to the people who sacrificed for the new life. The Home let us see the courage that the youth gives us to force reform and innovation. No matter what frustrations and setbacks we will encounter in the future, we should have firm belief in overcoming them and do not feel like a new life full of regrets and guilt like Jue Xing. As the preamble says, life is not a tragedy, but a struggle, we are to conquer it.
